    It is Official!

Due to overwhelming support, John made it official on Tuesday morning, when he declared that he was settled on Jack William. Our sweet baby boy can now be referred to by name! We will call him Jack, unless down the road he wants to be called something else like Will or William.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! :) Jack is such a cute name.

Incidentally, we've got William lined up for a boy's name should this one turn out to be a boy! We'll know (hopefully!) on August 14th.

    Sammy Update - GOOD NEWS

    :)

The kitty's levels are down to 6!!!! The vet has never seen that before. Ever.
He should come home tomorrow, and they will keep checking him every few days and take it step by step to see if he can handle it. It could be a day, a month, or even years.

Tricia is convinced it's prayer. Thank you everyone! Keep it coming!

    Rough Weekend.

Really rough. We went to Auntie's house to celebrate Grand's Birthday on Friday afternoon. But Sammy had been sick so Tricia dropped him off at the vet's office. About 5pm, we got really really bad news. He had kidney failure and they didn't expect him to make it through the night. Tricia ran over and spent some time with him, and held and petted him while he had an IV attached.

He seemed to be doing better, and the vet said he should make it through the night, but his condition was still very life threatening. His blood tests had come back with a kidney level of 24. 2 is regular and 6-7 is very elevated. Sammy was very toxic. His x-rays did not even show one kidney and the other was certainly abnormally large. :(

That night we had an absolutely awful thunderstorm, lightening everywhere. We went out to get take out dinner from one of our favorite Anderson restraunts, and it was awful. We waited for 40 minutes, only to get home and find that out of 4 orders, 4 were wrong in some way shape or form. The list of problems with dinner was long. At least desert was right, and a total surprise for Tricia. Tricia took the problems personally, even though it certainly had nothing to do with her, since she had suggested the restraunt. It was kinda the last straw of the day. She just couldn't catch a break. :(

On a side note, there were really bad storms here in Charlotte... a piece of exterior 'molding' peeled right off the front of our house. That said, it has happened to quite a few houses in the neighborhood, and just seems to be the builder's weak spot.

He did make it through the night. The next morning she went back and spent an hour, came home for a little bit and then went back again. I headed for the grocery while Dory slept and Grand kept watch. Tricia called in the middle of shopping asking me to take some pictures, so off I ran. We got some good stuff. 35 pics and 5 minutes of 'video'. He seemed to be doing much better and even almost himself, but his levels were still at 19.... :( Well, they kicked us out right at 1pm, and they were closed today and Tricia is not allowed to go and see him.

That night we had homemade dinner, Pork and Pineapple stirfry as Grand had requested... It was good! And after Dory went to bed we had lemon cake with lemon icing. Yum. We got to bed late after the very tiring day. (Dory had even requested closet o bed time to go home. I think she was tired of me telling her she could not play with things... Well, that and the fact that she knew her Auntie was very sad, and she didn't really understand but she did know that she didn't like it.
The vet called this morning (Sunday) and reported that he was doing even better still, and the IV might get to come out on Monday or Tuesday, but he still didn't want to offer much hope it sounds like. I guess we will see tomorrow.

We are still holding out hope for a miracle. Because it will take one. Even if his levels come down, we still do not know what is wrong with him. We know it is probably genetic, and not something Tricia did or that Sammy got into. We know he is not in pain, just weak right now from the dehydration from being sick last week. And we also know that as with all vets, this is going to get real expensive real quick... And no one here has the money. :( Sammy is only 3 1/2 years old, and is Tricia's support while living in Anderson. He is one VERY LOVED CAT. Anyway, Grandma is praying, she's our prayer warrior, Mom is praying, she's second in line with the prayer, John has it from the Catholic angle, I am praying, Grand is sending out positive thoughts, and that cat is on several prayer lists at various churches. So, there is hope.

All that said... We were on our way home this morning, and 40 miles into the drive, we find Tricia's car keys and had to go back. So, coming home was quite some trip... Not the usual 2 hours, that's for sure.

I missed Jeremy's christening this afternoon, but caught the refreshments and Sara seemed to understand. I sure hope she got pictures!

    Pregnancy Update

I have gained overall... 4 pounds. That completely takes into account the 10 that I lost during the first trimester, but I feel really good about where I am weight wise right now. Some of the girls in Sunday School have complained that I am still in normal clothes, until I explain to them that these were clothes that I bought after Dory was born and nothing else fit. I am moving up through the sizes and many of my smaller pieces no longer fit at all.
Little man is kicking away and still has to be officially named, but many have already seemed to have deemed him Jack. John and I still have to sit down and discuss it though. Daddy and Dory still have not felt any kicks, but even at this moment I am a punching bag! They are getting so much stronger, and he is very active around bed time. My uterus is up past my belly button now, but you might not know it to look at me, it looks more like a first pregnancy than the supposed-to-be-much-larger second.
The girls across the street are planning a shower, and I think it is super sweet of them. I am trying hard to come up with registry stuff, but most of the things I need and really want just are not available at Target and Babies'R'Us... and amazingly enough, many people have offered Boy's clothes, so I don't have a huge need there either!!! I am so blessed to have great neighbors for friends! They are really excited about the baby, having moved in when Dory was almost a year old.
I have a current belly pic to download to the computer, so I will put it up sometime soon.
Oh, and Dory got to hold the Doppler this morning at the Midwife appointment when they were counting the heartbeats. She was so excited about that! She helped squirt the gel and then managed to plunk the Doppler right down on his back; the look on her face when she heard it was so cute and full of amazement. It is easily her favorite part of going! For the record, this is the ONLY appointment between either kids that John has ever missed! I am so proud of that Daddy! He didn't miss much, today was short and sweet, other than KC wondering about the reason why I have not had any bloodwork as of yet. She also wasn't real thrilled when I declined the Rhogam shot and rh factor testing, but she didn't give me any problems about it. I mean, come on... I'm not cheating, and John and I both know at this point we are both negative. There is NO issue there. Why stick me again or give me something that has no point? It was a good visit because KC and I have had problems before, but today went smoother than I expected. The only down side to today is that we scheduled all of the bloodwork for 6 weeks from today, along with the glucose test. Oh well, might as well get it over with. At least there should not be any needles at delivery if it goes like the last one did! (With Dory, the only needle what broke skin was for a few stiches.)
Well, I think that is about it for pregnancy news... Sorry it was a bit boring!

    Wating for an update?

Well, here it is... lightning struck the house a week and a half ago. The power has been restored and the computer is fine, but the phone lines seem to be fried. So it is remote internet access for me for awhile. I have been slack about calling the phone company.

We are now 20 weeks preggers and Megan, my neighbor, was first tofeel a kick. He is completely elluding both big sister and daddy.

Past that Dory now sings the alphabet really well and loves The Wheels on the Bus, Ring Around the Rosie, Twinkle Tiwnkle Little Star and as always Happy Birthday.

John is out of town again trtaveling and we missed him for Father's Day, but he said he had a good time. Dory even told him Happy Father's Day Daddy, and it seemed to melt his heart. :)

Well, there arre all sots of things i am sure I could share if I only remembered them..... oh well.... hopefully the computer will be back up soon!

So... did you notice the new ticker?

    Yep, it's a boy!

Dory and Daddy are very excited, and I am warming up to it. I was just so sure it was going to be another girl... and a boy is just so hard for me to wrap my mind around. I know little about boys; don't get me wrong - I know I will be a great mom to him, but I was sure it was going to be another little girl! I am sure it will take several days to fully change gears!

We didn't get as good of pictures as we did with Dory this go around... I blame it on the tech since I saw some that she didn't quite capture during the scan... but oh well. At least he has a very healthy heart, kidneys, brain, spine... and it looks like only 10 fingers and 10 toes! One less thing to deal with later...

Since we do not have a name for a little boy picked out yet, we asked Dory what his name was on the drive home, just for kicks. She very promptly and clearly proclaimed that his name was 'Jack'. So, we'll just have to see! For now, he shall be referred to as 'Goober'.

FYI... Blogger seems to be having a few problems today (may just be my computer), so if there are not 4 pictures... refresh!

    A boy! How exciting! Congratulations!

I am hoping for another boy this time around, but I still have 8 or so weeks to wait until that darned ultrasound to find out!

Jack is a really nice name too :) Maybe you'll just decide to go with it!

    Falling down on the blog.

Look at me not posting all week!!! I have been busy with Jonquil Mom and making slings!!!

Ah.. I need some sleep now! Maybe in a few years huh?

Anyway... all is well, John and I are looking at new cars and have tentatively settled on the Hundai Tuscon. The Santa Fae apparently is too small since his head hits the ceiling!!! We got some good laughs out of that one today. It might be a week or a few months before we actually purchase though, waiting on the best deal.

Dory is good and we have aded a new line to her prayer...

Thank you God, Love you God, Help us God. Amen.

That's all for tonight... I have to run to the store still.

Oh, AND 2 DAYS TO GO!!! I am so excited about the ultrasound!
