So much and so little
I feel like I have nothing to write about. But I do. Tons, actually. John has been gone on business for over a week now, the kids and I are traveling this weekend, I got to go out with Amy and Becky, Amy accepted the honor of being Jack's Godmother, Dory got her first set of 'school books', I've been knitting up a storm, cooking more, and sleeping with the kids (remember, John is gone). I finished the Hemlock blanket, a wash cloth for charity, a coffee press warmer for Grandpa and am working on a test knit Faberge Scarf pattern.
I guess with all of that I am feeling a bit tired rather then wordy. I want to write and come up with little things to say, but they just don't make it to the page. It's so much easier to just read on Ravelry or chime in little bits and bobbles here and there. I haven't even been active on the NTC boards either, where we get most of our food!
So, bottom line, lots of news... but these two are wearing me out.
Oh, and I have decided to take a break from sling sewing. With John'schedule and nursing Jack to sleep... there is no good time to sew. Maybe in the future, maybe. I'll miss the money it brings in, but maybe the jewelry can do something for awhile... it's less likely to run a needle through my finger for being sleepy.

Dory Knits
Right before, hours before, the camera broke, I took these photos...
Someone, pictured above, was very excited about her new knitting needles and yarn. We made a few good COs, and one or two knits... but it was a great beginning. She's tickled.

cool, it won't be long and she'll be making things for you!
All wet.
Well, after BO the Hemlock Blanket, I managed to actually launch myself right into the next quickly. I also managed to finished it in one day! Jack has a new soaker soaking in the sink right now. Malabrigo Worsted 'Sunny Valley'; so soft, fits great and looks oh so cute! I can't wait until the lanolizing is finished and it's ready for him to wear!

Sleeping
Jack usually wakes up midnight for another nosh. Doesn't bother me, he sleeps in a twin mattress on the floor in the nursery now right beside his sister's bed. Well, this evening when he started to cry, it sounded a bit odd. I didn't know why until I got up there. He was sitting up in bed twisted to the side patting his sister and trying to pry the thumb from her mouth while completely, sleepily, confused as to why she was wrapped up next to him.
She had a hard time going to bed tonight and apparently decided to crawl in with him after I left from putting them to bed.
It was so very sweet to see.

Lavender, Japanese Beetles and Bees
My lavender bush has gone absolutely nuts, and I have promised all sorts of people lavender stalks for their yarn stashes... and it wouldn't be an issue if every bee in the city wasn't ON IT. I have never seen something so happily swarmed since I was a little kid and the green flowers on the bushes in the side yard back home. And, even then, this might just be *more*. So much for the bee population waning, as my lavender is singlehandedly supporting several species!
That said, John also gushed a Japanese Beetle on it this morning, right after killing tens off of our Azalea bushes out front. We thought we were doing great on that front so far this year. We had not seen very many, well, now we know why. They are eating the Azaleas!

For the record, this is not a bush but merely a slightly underachieving hedge. I expect German gun emplacements in no time.

Broken
my camera, that is. On Tuesday I called Doreen to see how her day was going... and it wasn't well. Mine was fine, until I talked to her. While on the phone I wen to check something and managed to knock my camera off of the mantle onto the slate hearth. Sure enough, it's dead as a freaking doornail. Well, the screen at least. You know, where everything on a digital camera takes place. Just some jagged red line running through at a crazy angle and blackness. I took a few pics to see if that would even still work. The flash goes off, but I have not tried to download anything yet.
It's all Doreen's fault.

BO
Noooo, not Body Odor... I'm Binding Off, on the Hemlock blanket! I made it to row 82 and with the prodding of a few others decided I best call it quite unless I wanted to buy another skein. The BO on this blanket is unlike any other I have done and is supposed to take about 4 hours to do. That's unheard of for you non-knitters! BO is a really quick and simple thing usually! But nooooooo, not for this bad girl... she's got to have crazy loopy edges that take an eon to finish....
But, I'll give my love and time and finish her right. I'll be happy to move onto new projects, and I didn't end up going so long that I hated this project. Maybe sometime I will make another....

Reduced
I *finally* culled the crap out of the beach vacation photos. It's a bit easier to get through the slideshow now, but it's still about 150 photos long. (of the original 300)
:) Hope that helps some.

Folly Beach
Tricia and I headed out of town this weekend, just a one night trip, to start planning the next reunion. It was a very productive trip, but I sure wish we could have done more. Sundays are a bad day to talk to any property management companies, and we didn't really have much time on Saturday. I got there before noon, but considering I had never even seen the islands in question (we also looked at Sullivan's Island and Isle of Palms) we had to get the lay of the land first and then the brochures and then formulate our questions... We narrowed it down to Folly, and then today realized that the one place we did not have a brochure for was, of course, the one we needed the most. So, hopefully we will get it in the mail this week. We took a ton of pictures, but I'm betting most of them will not even come out. But those will have to wait until the camera battery charges before I can see them. It died the moment I tried to point it at the ocean. I never even got to dip my toes in the water we stayed so busy. I did however make 20 minutes for a local yarn store. I came away with a yarn that I had been hunting for quite some time, so I am pretty excited about that!
Jack went with us, and did pretty well with it all, but this morning decided to try gouging out his eye, bit his tongue and made his ear bleed all in about 30 minutes time in a practically padded room. So... we decided to pack it up. Turns out he was tired. He was asleep in about 10 minutes after getting back in the car. Poor kiddo, he was a real trooper, we dragged him all over. I will say that om Saturday he got a real kick out of riding in the stroller, must have been a long time since he has ridden in it.
The Puckett Family Reunion website is up and running, where Tricia and I will be posting important links and updates as well as pictures. Go see our weekend's worth of tempting shots!
