    This week

Jack: is cutting 4, count them, 4, new teeth... all at once, and doing quite well with it.

Dory: learning what to do when the TV is off. Seems to be going well for her, but she is a bit confused by it's absence.

John: Directors are in town and he had his annual review. It went well, they gave him a raise. :)

Me: Um... been busy with it all. Did finally finish the Itty Bitty Big Bad Baby Blanket for Dory's baby doll.

    Chaos of Progress

    Cam
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!

I know this does not look like much more than a very messy room... but this is two days worth of work for me. Tricia is moving in and the guest room needed clearing out. We are making into my studio as well, hence the wall'o'cubes since they are great storage. The crib is sold, the computer table is gone, papers are shredded, and lots more things are up on Charlotte Mommies to be sold off. Whew. It's work, but it feels good to be getting it done. The room will be clean and cleared for Tricia minus the wall of cubes to be lovingly organized with beads, fabric, yarn and scrap book supplies. After Tricia has moved on the bed will go and in will be a few work tables and my sewing machines. I am excited. Excited because we get a month or few with Tricia around and excited because I can finally move my supplies to a place where I can see them and not wade through buried boxes to follow through on a spark of creativity since right now I have to keep wandering hands away from things. There are yet more cubes to construct and things to be put away or sold... I have a lot more work ahead, but this feels good. It is the chaos of progress.

    The Crib is Gone

We are moving on with our lives, the kids are growing... and that means more space.  No crib no changing table.  *sigh*  It happens, they do grow up.  Oh well.  Bunk beds are up for discussion now.

    On birth

Today in my Charlotte Doula yahoo group email someone had left a link about Dr. Wonderful, and that he did really exist. I have now meandered all over this lady's space and have enjoyed every moment. Enjoy.

    Shhhh...

Jack learned a new trick tonight while going to sleep. It actually kept us wide awake. He learned to shush his Mommy with his finger to his lips and the 'shhhh' sound. It had us both in fits of giggles going back and forth. We were hardly quiet about it.

Dory fell asleep early in the living room chair. She might be fighting off the cold I have. I hope she does not get it.

    Signs

Clear as a bell Jack joined the world of sign language with the sign for 'More!' tonight in reference to apples. I can't wait to see him do more signs. There was no mistaking this sign from him! He has done several others, like bye-bye, but they are small and poorly timed usually, this one was perfect!

So, is Dory still signing? That is great to hear Jack is using sign language, one of my favorite professors teaches the college level of sign language. Now that they have signing mastered, how about a little Spanish? I can teach them if you don't want to, me quiero Spanish!!!!! (I love Spanish!!!!)

    Christmas, finally...

Jack knows just what to do with a box of blocks! Conquer them by sitting on them.

The wheely bug from his birthday came in just a week before Christmas, Thank you Auntie!!!

    Ohhhh, a noise maker.

Daddy said it was one of the best Christmas' ever!  I think Abby agreed due to all of the hair on the floor I had to vacuum up.

Towers with Grand, until Godzilla Jack comes along...

Santa brought a 'purple helmet'! Just what she had asked EVERY Santa she saw for... it's just like Kipper's. (other than it has pink fairies... Kipper's has a yellow lightning bolt... but Dory's does light up!)

OH, my... MORE new toys. Grandma's prerogative I guess.

Little Chef, Thank you Grandma Patty! New kitchen set and the apron Mommy made! (Grandma also got her one, very cute in denim - she wears it also, or both at once.)

New Table Crawler, the best presents are always the wrappers/packaging anyway...

    New iPod

So, here we are, 2 years later, and I am getting a new iPod. John is getting my older nano for a new Nike+ running kit, like Heater has. It will be fun to see his runs online! I have spent most of the day ripping more CDs to my computer so that I can go ahead and max out my space... LOL Ok, not really, but I seem to rip by genres. I have been enjoying my dockable speakers during the days lately, it is keeping the kids away from the TV some, which is huge right now, but need more kid friendly music... so for right now that means most of my Christian Rock CDs. It is making me happy. No radio commercials, I know what is coming up, and I can control it at the blink of an eye. Plus I don't get tempted to buying a track I already have, but not ripped.
Anyway, new iPod. Yeah, should be here soon in the mail. I'm excited since it has video and I can download videos of the kids and movies for in the car and such. Many new possibilities! Happy Birthday John! Happy Birthday Jenny! I love combined presents.

    Gail learned to knit!

Gail and I went out yesterday to Charlotte Yarn, the lys, and picked out some new goodies. Mine for a project and hers just for a fun learning skein. Then we headed over to the APple store for a few things. While there she managed to completely lock down one of the display MacBooks by logging into Second Life... something she had just had 3 instances of running on the 9 year old desktop mac at home. We though it was downright funny.
We headed over to Caribou Coffee and settled in to lean to cast on and knit. By the time we left she had determined she hated the cheap needles I gave her. I certainly can not blame her! They were super long and the metal Boyle. Eww. LOL. Other than that, she was doing great. We are going to work on it some more tomorrow, I think. Look forward to some fun new things from her way! She knows how to do everything else, why not learn to knit.

    DMV Update

I was only an illegal driver for about 9 hours. The computers were up today and I went back. Ugg.

However, proving how very transparent I am, the lady kept losing my picture and took it no less than 6 times. No joke. She couldn't understand where it was going! Said she had never done that before, lol. Good thing I'm not particular about the picture. I'm sure the first one would have looked nice, but by picture 6 I was laughing and not looking at the camera I think. She had stopped doing the count down. Oh well. It's also pretty washed out. Seriously, it could be worse, but its not good.

    John, your turn!

Edited: Oh, I guess I didn't say... I got in and out quickly yesterday, under an hour(!), but without a license renewed. Their computer system was down and I did everything but pay and have a picture made. It was down all day, I kept calling back to ask. It's always something isn't it? I got up at 6:30, was there by 7:45 in line outside, in the cold, on my birthday.... but out by 8:30. With NOTHING.

I got there about 9am today and was out in about 45 minutes again. Whew. At least it wasn't 4 hours.

    More teeth... among other things.

A second molar has made an appearance. Poor Jack.

Dory sang us a song about the wise men visiting baby Jesus tonight when my Mom and George were here. It was spontaneous and completely made up... and simply wonderful! I really wish I had it on 'tape', but I don't. I don't even remember how it went.

Mom hired me to bake my own cake this year. She baby sat last night so John and I could go out to eat at Pewter Rose to celebrate and didn't have time, so she hired me as a GF baker to bake a cake today. We had GF Carrot Cake from a doctored Pamela's Vanilla Cake Mix. The consensus was a resounding YUM. I have also decided I don't want to be a baker.

I apologize for bring so bad at blogging lately, I'm not sure why I slumped off. I have forgotten all sorts of wonderful things already. I still have not posted stuff from Christmas. *sigh* I don't know why. I have finished my first serious non-scarf knitting project, a purse that I felted. It's beautiful, I'm super excited... but haven't blogged it. *eyeroll* I don't understand.

So, yeah, Jack has another tooth. Wee-yea.

    Zuri Elizabeth arrived!

    December 12/30/07 11:18pm
And even better yet, I was there for it. Doreen's doula was getting over being ill, and while likely fine, Doreen was worried enough that she asked me to stand in. I was thrilled, to say the least. Everything worked out great, John was off of work at just the right time and Doreen went into labor at the perfect moment. She is a beautiful little girl and Doreen's blog has tons of pictures (where I shamelessly stole this one from) as well as her birth story.
Thanks for allowing me to be there Doreen, it was beautiful.

"But Mommy! He's my new pet!"

Said by Dory after I dumped the dead earwig (bug) into the sink out of the cup she had put him in. Good GRIEF!!!! She was seriously sad.

It was dead darling, it was DEAD. Not to mention a BUG.
